A National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement is a single, comprehesive, and concise policy document, which has replaced the Subject and Learning Area Statements, Learning Programme Guidelines and Subject Assessment

Guidelines for all the subjects listed in the National Curriculum Statement 

 

What is the purpose of caps?

CAPS gives teachers detailed guidelines of what to teach and assessed on a grade –by- grade and subject-by- subject basis. The Main aim of CAPS is to lessen the administrative burden on teachers and ensure consistency and guidance for teachers when teaching.

 

What are subject content areas covered in the CAPS document?

In the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) the subject Life Skills in Foundation Phase (Grades R) has been organized into four study areas: Beginning knowledge, Personal and Social Wellbeing, Creative Arts and Physical Education.
